Centrum Wolontariatu w Lublinie istnieje od 1999 r. Pomysł powołania lubelskiego wolontariatu zrodził się na bazie działań prowadzonych przez młodzież i duszpasterzy skupionych w Centrum Duszpasterstwa Młodzieży Archidiecezji Lubelskiej, powołanym przez Abp. Józefa Życińskiego i kontaktów z liderem włoskiego wolontariatu, Stasiem Gawrońskim. Podejmowane projekty socjalne wskazały na potrzebę stworzenia Centrum Wolontariatu w naszym mieście. Od tego czasu za pośrednictwem Centrum Wolontariatu służbę podjęło blisko 20 tys. osób.

Jesteśmy organizacją kompleksowo zajmującą się wolontariatem. Główne kierunki działania to: koordynowanie pracą wolontariuszy, formacja, promocja oraz inspirowanie społeczności lokalnych, środowisk duszpasterskich do tworzenia klubów, biur i centrów wolontariatu.

Centrum Wolontariatu od początku było łącznikiem pomiędzy osobami i instytucjami potrzebującymi pomocy i wsparcia oraz tymi, którzy zaoferowali pomoc – wolontariuszami. Organizacja prowadzi Biuro Pośrednictwa Wolontariatu, jest także miejscem szkoleń – warsztatów przygotowujących ochotników do pracy w charakterze wolontariuszy i pomocy przy realizacji projektów socjalnych. Nasza praca to także przygotowywanie placówek do współpracy z wolontariuszami.

Centrum Wolontariatu prowadzi także własne programy wolontarystyczne, gdzie ochotnicy pomagają osobom chorym, więźniom, bezdomnym, uchodźcom, dzieciom zaniedbanym i osieroconym. Duży nacisk kładziemy na jakość zaangażowania naszych wolontariuszy, dlatego proponujemy im szkolenia i spotkania umożliwiające systematyczne podnoszenie umiejętności i kompetencji.

Oprócz prowadzenia działalności „stałego wolontariatu” w placówkach, nasze stowarzyszenie realizuje także program wolontariatu akcyjnego. Wielu wolontariuszy pełniło służbę podczas lubelskich wydarzeń: Kongresu Kultury Chrześcijańskiej, Wigilii Starego Miasta, Forum Młodzieży Lubelszczyzny, Światowych Dni Młodzieży, Dnia Papieskiego. Nasi wolontariusze uczestniczą w zbiórkach żywności organizowanych przez Banki Żywności, włączają się także w inne ogólnopolskie i lokalne akcje charytatywne.

Lubelskie Centrum Wolontariatu ma także międzynarodowe doświadczenia. Stowarzyszenie stale współpracuje z organizacjami z krajów Unii Europejskiej oraz między innymi z Ukrainy, Gruzji, Kuby.

The Volunteer Centre in Lublin was established in 1999. The idea of starting voluntary service in Lublin was inspired by activities undertook by young people and priests working in the Centre for the Youth Chaplaincy of the Lublin Archdiocese, set up by Archbishop Józef Życiński, and contacts with the leader of voluntary service in Italy, Staś Gawroński. Social problems approached by the Centre indicated the need for creating a volunteer centre in our city. Since then, around 20 thousand people took up a voluntary service through our Centre.

We are an organization that provides comprehensive voluntary service. In our actions we are mainly focused on coordinating the work of our volunteers, forming, promoting as well as inspiring local communities and chaplaincies to form volunteer clubs, offices and centres.

Since the beginning of its existence, the Volunteer Centre has been serving as a link between people and institutions in need of help and support and those who offer their assistance – volunteers. The organization runs an employment agency and organizes trainings – workshops preparing volunteers to perform their work and to help with social projects. Our work also includes preparing institutions to cooperate with the volunteers.

The Volunteer Centre runs its own volunteer programmes, within the framework of which the volunteers provide assistance for sick, homeless, prisoners, refugees, neglected children and orphans. We pay particular attention to the quality of our volunteers’ commitment. Therefore, we offer them workshops and meetings so that they can constantly develop their skills and competences.

In addition to providing “regular voluntary service” in different institutions, our association carries out action volunteering programme. Many of our volunteers helped with the organization of events such as Congress of Christian Culture, Christmas Eve in the Old Town, Lublin Region Youth Forum, World Youth Day or Papal day. Our volunteers take part in food collections organized by the Food Bank and in other national and local charity initiatives. What is more, the Volunteer Centre in Lublin has different international experiences – it cooperates permanently with organizations from European Union as well as other countries, such as Ukraine, Georgia or Cuba.
